New website in the works, plus two new novels

I know it’s been a while since I’ve posted here. Life has a nasty habit of thwarting the most meticulous plans. That said, I’ll have a new website soon as I prepare to launch a new fantasy series in late 2024. The first book is ready for the editor and the second is very much in progress.

I’m really jazzed about the books and the overall story arc. Stay tuned. Good things are coming.

Mourning a lost friend…podcast, that is

The Six Figure Authors podcast closed up digital shop in late April. There wasn’t enough time to host the show and get on with the business of life for the three hosts: Lindsay Buroker, Joe Lallo and Andrea Pearson, all successful, mid-list fiction writers.

Thankfully, the archives are still available. If you’re an aspiring writer, listen to these episodes — they’re filled with down-to-earth advice on making a real living as a writer, and not just as some slave to Big Publishing.

Thanks for the wisdom, kind people.

Back in my LEGO Creative Director days, I commissioned Templar Studios in NYC to produce an online game to feature the new LEGO Bionicle toys. Here’s a terrific 30-minute documentary about its production.

Maker’s Schedule vs. Manager’s Schedule

May 16, 2018 9:34 am | Russell Stoll 0

It’s a real headache for writers and other creative work that most of the world runs according to a manager’s schedule (with office hours from 9am-5pm peppered with 1/2 hour-long meetings). Creative folk need uninterrupted time.

Visit this link for an insightful take on the dilemma. If you’ve figured this all out, and can still feed a family of 5, send me a note. I’ll be eternally grateful.
